North Atlantic Kelp
Solgar North Atlantic Kelp, sourced from seaweeds that grow in shallow salty waters, is specifically sourced from the nutrient-rich water of the North Atlantic. The nutrients found in the waters are absorbed by the kelp, making it a rich source of vitamins and minerals. Once dehydrated, kelp can then easily be absorbed by the digestive system, providing the body with an abundant source of nutrients.
- Supports a healthy thyroid function
- Supports brain health
- A natural source of iodine
- Vegan, Vegetarian, Kosher
The main nutrient in kelp is iodine, a mineral important for health, due to wide range of benefits. It can be found in fish and dairy products and until recent the assumption was made that the average person would have adequate levels of iodine. However, there are many who rarely eat fish or dairy, and for these people it may be beneficial to take additional supplements. Iodine has an important role in keeping the body healthy. For example, it is needed to make thyroid hormones, which in their turn are needed for several processes including controlling and regulating the metabolism. The metabolism is responsible for maintaining energy levels by using calories in our food to be transformed into energy instead of converting them into fat. Iodine is also involved in the formation of hair and skin, with a deficiency potentially leading to hair loss.
Solgar® North Atlantic Kelp Tablets are suitable for vegans, with each daily dose providing 200 µg of iodine from 143 mg of Kelp, contributing to:
- Normal cognitive function
- Normal energy-yielding metabolism
- Normal functioning of the nervous system
- Maintenance of normal skin
- Normal production of thyroid hormones and normal thyroid function
