It’s the start of another year and it is time to make your New Year resolutions. If living through a global pandemic has taught us anything, it is that we shouldn't take our health for granted. So, let's kick off 2023 with 5 nutrition & lifestyle changes that will help support your immune system.
1. Spend 15 minutes in nature every day
Sunlight can benefit your health by helping you make Vitamin D, which builds immunity and helps fight off infections. Also, morning sunlight can help you sleep better at night.2. Finish your shower on cold water
Cold water therapy can stimulate your body's immune system and improve your ability to fight illness. Finish your morning shower with a 30-second blast of cold water. It will also lift your mood as your body will release endorphins to cope with the shock.3. Use essential oils
I'm a huge fan of Eucalyptus essential oil. It has antibacterial properties and works as an expectorant (it helps clear nasal and sinus congestion). Add 3 drops to a diffuser to boost immune activity and open airways. If you don't have a diffuser, place two drops of Eucalyptus oil directly onto the shower floor while you are showering.4. Sleep at least 7 hours per night
Sleep is so underrated! When you sleep, your body repairs itself, waste products are removed from your cells and immune responses are busy to ensure that when you wake, your body is ready for another day.5. Try our immune boosting smoothie
I always come back to this smoothie whenever I’m feeling a little under the weather. It is packed with nourishing ingredients like fresh ginger, turmeric root, spinach, pineapple, black pepper and probiotics. This smoothie is also great for digestion and tastes delicious!- 1 cup frozen pineapple
