Visit us First for Seven Minor Conditions

From 31st January, people can visit John Bell & Croyden for help with seven minor conditions which would previously have required a GP appointment.

As experts in medicines and managing minor illnesses, pharmacists have been backed by the Government and the NHS to provide a new NHS ‘Pharmacy First’ service. John Bell & Croyden has signed up to support people in certain age groups seeking help for:

Pharmacy First has been launched by the NHS to help reduce the current pressures on the NHS and offer patients easier access to advice and treatments though pharmacies. Adopting a 'Pharmacy First' mindset will make it easier and quicker for patients get the help they need and bypass the 8am rush to book an appointment with their GP.

We can help these patients to conveniently schedule an appointment for a consultation with a pharmacist at John Bell & Croyden. As part of the service, pharmacists can provide further guidance and, if deemed clinically necessary, offer an NHS-prescribed medicine (with applicable prescription charges or exemptions).

The clinic team at John Bell & Croyden can also offer additional chargeable testing services, such as inflammatory infection markers called CRP, to help decide if an antibiotic is needed and Strep A tests where appropriate.

In some circumstance patients may need to be directed to their GP surgery or appropriate emergency care.

This service is for NHS patients only, but we can offer private services if required.
