Hi Chris, tell us a little bit about the story behind COOLA and what makes it so different from other brands...
COOLA’s creation began when I moved to Venice, CA and was inundated with with everything organic. After both of my parents had melanoma diagnoses, I started looking at my own sun habits and searched unsuccessfully for wearable, healthy sunscreens. That quest evolved into COOLA. Today, COOLA is the quintessential slice of California life, and even better, all of our products are made with 70% organic ingredients. We believe clean beauty should feel as good as it is healthy. Our products are powerfully protective and easy-to-wear, while still being good for our consumers and the environment.
Are there any exciting initiatives COOLA is undertaking regarding sustainability and environmental protection?
At COOLA, we are deeply committed to improving the health and safety of our communities, waterways and habitats. We do this through responsible ingredient sourcing and sustainable packaging whenever possible. This means using as many organic ingredients as possible and harvesting methods when sourcing ingredients. 80% of our packaging is glass, and our secondary packaging is created using recycled materials.
Our Farm to Face® initiative also ensures that we formulate our products with ingredients that follow sustainable farming practices and support local communities.
In the range, are there any key ingredients that you are particularly interested in?
At COOLA, we harness the power of plant cell actives to nourish and support healthy skin, which we call Plant Protection®. The ingredients in our Plant Protection® complex are incredible. We use Buriti Oil and Prickly Pear Extract which help protect, strengthen and combat free radical damage in the skin.
Another ingredient unique to COOLA is our use of Safflower Oleosomes. In nature, oleosomes encapsulate the precious oil of the Safflower Seed. With its micron-size and its phospholipid and protein coating, it serves as a natural emulsifier that more evenly disperses oil and water formulations. In simpler terms, the Safflower Oleosomes increase the efficiency of our products.
What would be one product from the range you couldn't live without right now? And why?
We have so many amazing products, it’s hard to choose just one! We launched our Dew Good Illuminating Sunscreen with Probiotic Technology SPF 30 earlier this year and it’s incredible! The silky serum goes on sheer and instantly makes skin look dewy and hydrated.
What’s next for COOLA?
Innovation is the core of our DNA at COOLA. We are passionate in our pursuit of perfection when it comes to creating our products, pushing the boundaries on what is possible in skincare to deliver on our brand promise of creating healthy skincare you'll love to wear.
We'll have some exciting launches coming up next year that I know our consumers will love. Stay tuned!
