This Mental Health Awareness Month, we sat down with Anna Marcovici, founder of Manifesto, to talk about the Serene Vitamin Gummies and the growing conversation around women’s emotional wellbeing. With nearly two thirds of women over 50 in the UK reporting mental health struggles, Manifesto Nutrition is on a mission to support healthier, happier ageing from the inside out.

Anna shares the inspiration behind Serene, the science-backed ingredients helping women find everyday balance, and why wellness culture needs to move beyond toxic positivity toward a more compassionate, realistic approach to mental health.

What inspired the creation of Serene, and how does it support Manifesto's mission around women’s wellbeing?

Nearly two thirds of women over 50 in the UK report mental health struggles with 58% feeling more anxious than before. Low mood, poor sleep, caregiving, parental loss, financial struggles all contribute. As a brand committed to support ageing well this was a key area for us to tackle.

How do the gummies support emotional wellbeing, beyond traditional supplementation?

As a start our supplements are designed to deliver a small dose of joy at every touchpoint. The packaging, the taste, the supportive language we use. The ingredients are sourced from blend of Eastern wisdom and Western science, harmoniously working together to deliver gentle everyday balance.

Which ingredients in Serene Gummies are most important for supporting stress and mood?

I’d start with our vegan Vitamin D3 sourced from Icelandic lichen. As much as 60-80% of women 50+ are vitamin D deficient which causes low mood, depression, brain fog etc so this one is key. Ashwagandha KSM66 is a nootropic that helps the body deal with external stressors more efficiently and gently.

What misconceptions about mental health do you see often in wellness culture?

Ah the toxic positivity. That somehow if you just say enough mantras and do enough sun salutations you will be just great. Don’t get me wrong, meditation, exercise, fresh air are all super important, I just don’t like the idea that if you have an off day you are somehow to blame. We really need to take it easy on ourselves a bit.

How does Mental Health Awareness Month align with your mission as a wellness brand?

We are hyperfocused on delivering products that help our customers ageing well and protecting mental health, a positive attitude to ageing is the single biggest predictor of how you will experience the ageing process so I would say it is absolutely very intimately woven in the very fibre of our DNA.

What is one key message you want people to take away about mental health this month?

Check in with yourself often. It’s easy to internalise the negativity in the world today and really takes conscious effort to neutralise it. Focus on the things that lift you up – be that people, culture, nature, movement. Contentment is a cultivated muscle, and if and when things get tough speak up and seek support.
