We spoke with Roger Aoun, founder of BeautyLab, the high-performance skincare line for real and visible results, that combines cutting-edge science with the most effective natural actives.

    What is the BeautyLab Specialist skincare range and why did you create it?

    I specifically created this collection to address prevalent concerns – such as for skin that is blemished, oily, acne-prone, very dry, dull, hyperpigmented, sun-damaged or with enlarged pores. It’s essentially a strategic ally for problem skin.

    Delivering prolonged results, the Specialist Skincare range is powered by high-performance actives, for example: peptides, fruit acids, enzymes, vitamins, oils and botanical extracts – to purify, exfoliate, stimulate cell renewal, decongest, reduce dark spots and brighten. The result: skin that is clearer, softer, more even, radiant, healthier looking and protected.

    What are the hero products in the range and why are they different?

    GlycoWash 5%

    Our award-winning, exfoliating GlycoWash 5% is certainly amongst BeautyLab’s best-loved products. Developed to combat blemishes, dullness and uneven pigmentation, it also works well for all skin types, including more mature skin. Featuring Glycolic Acid (an AHA) and Pomegranate (a gentle exfoliating enzyme), the wash also contains Salicylic Acid that comes in a unique delivery system, providing a slow and extended release. This exposes the skin to smaller amounts of salicylic acid over time, delivering prolonged effectiveness. The wash unplugs pores, unclogs excess oil, expels impurities, removes dead, dull cells and helps to stimulate cell regeneration. The result: skin that is fresh, smooth, bright and healthy looking.

    Hyperpigmentation


    For customers with hyperpigmentation, who want to correct dark spots and defend against the appearance of new ones, we offer a double-duty serum and moisturiser duo. Our award-winning Lemon Peel Lightening Concentrate (day/night serum) features Lemon Peel that inhibits tyrosinase (production of melanin), balances the skin tone and promotes an even, healthy-looking glow. This is combined with Gigawhite and Kojic Acid that together help fade existing discolouration and increase luminosity of the skin. To amplify the results, our Peptide Lightening Complex (day/night moisturiser) contains an advanced peptide that it is capable of reducing the level of visible melanin. The effect is heightened with the addition of Arbutin and Bearberry that brighten the skin, improve uniformity and promote a radiant complexion.

    Vitamin C Serum Concentrate

    For those with dull, lacklustre or uneven skin, our award-winning Vitamin C Serum Concentrate is a must. Sodium ascorbyl phosphate (a stable and bioactive form of Vitamin C) brightens the skin, helps to reduce the appearance of discolouration, redness, blemishes or fine lines, and promotes an even, healthy glow – while it also supports collagen production, contributing to skin firmness and elasticity. With its combination of Vitamins A, C and E, the serum offers potent antioxidant benefits, to protect the skin from environmental free radicals that can accelerate skin-ageing. The formula is then enhanced with the inclusion of Plant Collagen (derived from fermented yeast – making it an excellent alternative to animal-derived collagen) that creates a luxurious-feeling film over the skin, for a supple appearance.

    Multi-Vitamin Oil

    Our super-hydrating Multi-Vitamin Oil works incredibly well on dry or very dry skin at any time. It’s also a superb skincare addition during the winter months. Infused with nourishing Passion Flower, Argan Oil and Buriti Oil, it supports a healthy skin barrier and improves moisture retention. With antioxidant Vitamins A and E, it contributes to maintaining the skin’s overall quality and appearance by protecting against pollution and other environmental factors. Fast-absorbing and non-greasy, this oil effortlessly sinks into the skin for an instant boost, while over time it restores the look of vibrancy, suppleness and elasticity.

    Ultra Defence Hydrator SPF50

    For superior, year-round sun protection, our Ultra Defence Hydrator SPF50 is an everyday essential for all skin, including dry or sun-damaged skin. Lightweight and easily absorbed (leaving no residual white marks), it also shields against free radicals, which in turn helps to maintain the skin’s integrity and defend against the cell-ageing process. It’s enriched with hydrating Alteromonas Extract (derived from deep-sea waters and isolated through biotechnology) to help soothe reactive skin, reduce redness, reinforce the skin barrier and optimise resistance against external aggressors (heat, UV, oxidative stress). For optimum benefit, the formula includes a nourishing Probiotic that works to balance the skin’s microbiota, hydrate and boost moisture retention. While gentle, this product is a powerhouse in terms of performance.

    I actually have three! Our GlycoWash 5% is my twice-a-week routine for smoother, fresher, brighter skin. And the Vitamin C Serum Concentrate – perfect at any time, but particularly beneficial when my skin looks tired or dull, and in need of a healthy-looking glow. Lastly, it has to be the Ultra Defence Hydrator SPF50. Whatever the season, it’s the ultimate skin saviour.
