Dandelion, Taraxacum officinale, is a herb native to Europe. Most gardeners however know it as a pernicious weed, however the root can be used to make a coffee substitute, the young leaves can be eaten in a salad and even the flowers can be used to make a "honey".
Traditionally dandelion root is used as a detox due to potential diuretic properties.
