Squalane is the quiet workhorse of a good routine – a lightweight emollient that softens and smooths without heaviness or shine. It's close in structure to lipids skin produces naturally, which is why it absorbs so readily and suits almost every skin type, including oilier and blemish-prone skin.
Modern squalane is derived from olives or sugarcane (older sources were animal-derived; today's is almost always plant-based – check the label if it matters to you).
